Launch Party!

July 24th, 2010

This website is all about how to be extraordinary in three categories: CAREER, BUSINESS, LIFE.

There are too many mediocre careers, businesses and lives. This site will provide resources to help improve these three areas of your life.

I chose to focus on Career, Business and Life development because they encompass just about everything.  The Career page will have information specific to career-centered folk: high school and college grads, career changers and anyone still trying to figure out what they want to be when they grow up.  The Business page is for business-centered folk: freelancers, consultants, business owners of all kinds.   The Life page is everything you need to know be extraordinary in your career, business and thus, life, along with the best of the best of personal development strategy.

I do not intend to echo others’ work. Therefore this site will pull in readily available knowledge from books, blogs, websites, ebooks, magazines, anything that will help you become extraordinary.  I hope to fill in the knowledge gaps and pull things together with original content. So think of this website as half resource center and half blog.

The three pages above contain a collect of books, blogs and other resources that I’ve found valuable.  New material will be continually added and expanded overtime.

The Audience

  • People that want to find/discovery/utilize/make money off their passion
  • People that want to build a better business
  • People that need a few life hacks to be more productive
  • High school and college graduates that have no idea “what they want to be when they grow up”
  • Adults that have no idea “what they want to be when they grow up”
  • People that can’t find a job and need 21st Century job search tactics

The Philosophy

I believe there are three things that must be done in order to be extraordinary:

  • You must identify and strengthen your individual strengths in order to reach your potential
  • You must ask a lot of questions, be curious and learn from the experience of others
  • You must take action, practice real-world experiments, see what works and what doesn’t, then iterate.
  • The content and resources on this website will center around these three core principles.

    I Need Your Help

I read a lot of stuff, but I don’t read everything.  Because I want this site to be more than a blog, I need your help for finding quality content around the web.  Like I said above I want this site to be a hub for content relating to the best of the best in career, business and life.  So, email me, or tweet me articles that you find and I’ll post them up.  Take a look at the topics in the three categories to get a feel for the content I’m looking for.  THANKS!!!

How This Site Came To Be

This post describes how I came up with the idea for the website. This post also lays out how I came with part of the idea for this website. Essentially I create this website to combine what I was already writing about on my previous blog, with several projects I wanted to start.

      Re: Help

Have you thought about crowdsourcing links via a shared tag on Delicious or something like that? You could pool your trusted network and run the widget somewhere on the blog, but also use it as a sort of cork board for ideas.

Just a thought. Looking forward to the new blog!

Hey, good idea Paul. That might work…

Saw that you commented on Nology's blog. I just started working for them actually this week as a writer.

I think I found out about their blog through your Twitter feed. Found some interesting stuff when I flipped back through their posts; I'll keep an eye on it.
